Saturday Night Fever

This movie is really tragic and good. A little slow, as '70s movies can be, but there are several wrenching scenes. Has anyone else seen it?

  1. This was on the syllabus of Lit-107, which was without question the most pointless class I took as an undergraduate.

  2. What was Lit-107? What else was on the syllabus?

  3. Here is a partial syllabus I reconstructed with some colleagues a few years ago:

    Mad Max
    Jurassic Park
    Man With A Movie Camera
    Blow Up
    Fifth Element
    Modern Times
    Enter The Dragon
    The Piano
    Fantasia
    Spartacus
    Citizen Kane
    2001: A Space Odyssey
    Strange Days
    Satyricon
    Singin' in the Rain
    Intolerance
    Triumph of the Will
    Metropolis (bad version)
    Un Chien Andalou

So in the future, send your children to Harvard for one billion space pesos or whatever and they can be educated in the fields of The Piano and Fantasia.

  4. It is generally believed by the academic community that watching Blow Up is the worst experience that anyone has ever had doing anything.

  5. The final project we submitted for this course in literature at Harvard University (which earned us, as I recall, an A-) was a half-hour, multi-camera comedy pilot called "Jurassic Park: The Sitcom."
